This week in celebration of the closing of the 5th International Action of the World March of Women GGJ as the US chapter of the World March of Women is uplifting grassroots feminist efforts to organize and amplify our most transformative visions and call to defeat neofascism and white supremacy! As part of our multi-front action week, we are launching a new feminist peace initiative with MADRE and Women Cross DMZ, demanding an end to cruel sanctions and endless wars on our international kindreds. Following the launch this weekend we will participate and bring in the voices of our global allies and frontline members at the Rising Majority event on Oct 17-18th Freedom Side: Tribunal and People’s Congress. The World March of Women (WMW) celebrates 20 years of its history as a vibrant and growing international movement. The 5th International Action of the World March of Women is a call to confront the growing movement of extreme right-wing forces that are seeped in conservative values and neoliberalism, threatening life and democracy. The WMW invites feminists around the world to participate in this journey, from March 8 to October 17, 2020.

As the US election approaches and demands for racial justice and defunding the police continue to grow, a new feminist peace initiative led by Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, MADRE, and Women Cross DMZ has released A Vision       for a Feminist Peace: Building a Movement-Driven Foreign Policy. This groundbreaking framework dramatically reimagines U.S. foreign policy built on intersectional feminist principles and driven by social movements. Read our shared powerful framework here.

“As grassroots feminists, our movements are organizing to shift the business-as-usual failed policies of militarism and isolation. More than ever, there is an urgent need for U.S. foreign policy to be guided by an intersectional feminist model of peace building that centers collective care and wellbeing, climate resilience, self-determination, diplomacy and reparations to  prioritize the lived realities of those who are most harmed by militarism,” said Cindy Wiesner, Executive Director of GGJ. U.S. elections have critical ramifications on the wellbeing of communities and climate change action. GGJ’s international allies and members share their thoughts on how U.S. policy impacts their lives, the economy, human rights and dignity with the imposition of sanctions, the impact of military bases and a neoliberal agenda. Some of these testimonies will be presented at the Rising Majority Tribunal this Saturday Oct. 17th while the grassroots solution for a feminist economy will be amplified during the second day, Oct. 18th, at the People’s Congress. Las elecciones estadounidenses tienen ramificaciones críticas sobre el bienestar de las comunidades y la acción contra el cambio climático.
