In many ways, Joseph is just like any other 12-year-old. He loves water games, baseball, and sour candy. He has a chores list waiting for him at home, as well as four younger sisters who look up to him. On top of those responsibilities, his biggest burden at home is dealing with his father’s incarceration.

When Dad is away, something is missing. Still, Joseph's brown eyes light up when he talks about their father-son bond. He makes prison visits at least once a month. When his dad signed him up for Angel Tree^®, a program of Prison Fellowship^®, his Christmas surprise was perfect: a drawing pad, paint, and colored pencils.

Caring volunteers like you purchased and delivered the gift to Joseph on his dad’s behalf, because they couldn’t be together in person.

“Dad knew what I wanted,” said Joseph. “It's always been good that he knows what to get us. … It's great that I know he's still there for me.”

Joseph loves journaling, reading his Bible, and mailing notes about Scripture to his dad. Angel Tree has made their relationship even stronger.
