Amy Coney Barrett just went full anti-democracy, authoritarian in her confirmation hearing.
We know that Trump has already said publicly that he wants her confirmed to the Supreme Court before the election in case the result of the election ends up before the Court…
But the answers that Barrett, nominated to a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court of the United States, gave today in response to critical questions are simply SHOCKING:
Barrett refused to say that the president of the United States cannot unilaterally delay the election...
She refused to recognize that armed “poll watchers” would be considered voter intimidation...

And she refused to take a position on whether the president should commit to a peaceful transfer of power!

Barrett evaded so many questions, asserting she couldn’t answer “political” questions OR “legal” questions.
She even brushed off Trump’s refusal to commit to a peaceful transfer of power, calling it a “political controversy” … as if staging a COUP, by trying to hold power despite losing an election, is not an issue that cuts to the core of our Constitution or relevant to the Supreme Court.
It confirms what we already knew – that this hearing is a total sham.
EVERY Republican involved in this shameful charade, who is subverting democracy and the will of the People to rush the confirmation of this Trump nominee, MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
That goes for Trump and Senate Republicans – including the three who are directly involved in staging this sham hearing with their position on the Judiciary Committee that are in close reelection races: Lindsey Graham, Joni Ernst, and Thom Tillis.
