U.S. Senators should be listening to the millions of Americans who have been calling for relief in this pandemic for months. Instead, they’re trying to rush through a Charles-Koch-backed, corporate-friendly Supreme Court justice.
We are seven months into a pandemic that has been worsened by the Trump administration, with eight million people infected and more than 215,000 deaths. Donald Trump and his key staff got the virus. Staff and children at Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s school are infected with COVID-19.
Three GOP Senate Judiciary Committee members are infected. In fact, one senator who was diagnosed with COVID-19 less than two weeks ago is currently in the hearing room, speaking at a microphone, without a mask on to protect the other people in the room.
Yet, Mitch McConnell and the Senate are focused on ramming through Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to make their ultra-rich donors happy, instead of getting relief for the millions of people suffering from the virus and the economic crisis caused by Trump’s mismanagement.

Confirming Judge Barrett would hurt our communities. She supports overturning the ACA, and if successful, would leave millions more people vulnerable in the pandemic, including 23 million women who were uninsured before the ACA, and 68 million women and girls with pre-existing conditions.
Judge Barrett’s confirmation will make this disastrous pandemic even worse. Let’s all do our part to take care of one another and tell our senators to stop this confirmation and pass COVID-19 relief.
