Amy Coney Barrett is a grave threat to gun violence prevention in our country, John . Her confirmation could mean that an extremist, NRA agenda becomes the law of the land. This isn’t a surprise, Friend, but Barrett’s answers at her second day of confirmation hearings are deeply concerning.
Not only did Barrett issue one of the most extreme, radical Second Amendment decisions of any judge in America, today she said she would have held that the legislature cannot bar people with felony convictions from possessing guns. She also failed to affirm that she believes that every president should commit to the peaceful transfer of power. And she refused to simply confirm that it is illegal under federal law to intimidate voters — egregiously calling the question “hypothetical,” even as the Trump campaign has been mobilizing so-called “poll watchers” to intimidate Democratic voters.
John , today’s Senate hearing underscores what we already know to be true: Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court means yet another seat for the NRA on the highest court in the land. Our safety is at risk.
We mean it when we say this is a matter of life and death — so we’re urgently asking: We have extended our petition until 11:59 p.m. tonight and we need 18 more activists from your area to demand the Senate vote no and wait until after the election to fill this Supreme Court vacancy. We’re still missing your response!
Please, we need you to stand against this dangerous appointment:
