A recent Guardian poll shows that Biden is barely keeping his lead by just 2.2 points in Florida and 2.6 points in Arizona.
That’s 40 electoral votes that are on the line -- not to mention a key Senate race and several flippable House seats. The GOP has jumped on this opportunity, and their Super PACs are now spending millions of dollars to blast the airwaves in these states with egregious lies about Democrats, such as claiming that the plan to defund the police will lead to widespread violent crime. They’ll do anything to hide the fact that our economy is in shambles and the deadly pandemic rages on -- and they’ll continue to blame Democrats for both these problems whenever they can get away with it.
At ASPIRE, we’re fighting back. We’re working with the state parties of not only Arizona and Florida, but also Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virgina. We won’t rest until we’ve built a shield around these vital battlegrounds and given our candidates the support they’ll need to fight back against the GOP’s lies and underhanded attacks.
But as we speak, Trump and the GOP are developing new dirty tricks to steal this election. POLITICO reports that The Agriculture Department has begun “mandating that millions of boxes of surplus food for needy families include a letter from President Donald Trump claiming credit for the program.”
This is what we are up against: Trump using the levers of government and taxpayer dollars for self-promotion with less than a month until Election Day.
At ASPIRE, every dollar we raise will go towards stopping Trump and the GOP and championing progressives and candidates of color. Unfortunately, we are falling short of this week’s goal. We need $3,347 to be back on track and continue supporting our grassroots efforts where we need the electoral votes the most.
