EDISC Member Im Earns Outstanding Nurse Scientist Award
The Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science has named Eun-Ok Im, PhD, RN, FAAN, its outstanding nurse scientist of the year for her pioneering use of emerging technologies to eliminate gender and ethnic disparities globally. Congratulations to Im, who serves on the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action&rsquo;s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Steering Committee (EDISC).

Nursing Innovations Awards Go to 10 Projects Across U.S.

A nurse-focused podcast; partnerships among faith, health, and community organizations; nurses&rsquo; using technology to decrease social isolation; a path to placing nurses on local boards: These are just four of the 10 Action Coalition-affiliated projects that have won Campaign Nursing Innovations Fund awards, which support work that strengthens nursing&rsquo;s role in promoting health equity.

California Gov. Signs Law That Paves Way for Greater Care

California has taken a step to provide better access to care to its 39 million residents. Legislation the governor signed in late September will lift restrictions on most of the state&rsquo;s nurse practitioners when it comes to physician oversight requirements, giving Californians far more options for care. The law takes effect in 2023.

Nursing by the Numbers: Campaign Updates Its Dashboard
More RNs are getting bachelor&rsquo;s degrees, and the diversity among those graduates has increased, show the Campaign dashboard&rsquo;s latest figures. Since 2010, the Campaign has tracked progress made on implementing recommendations in that year&rsquo;s Future of Nursing report from the Institute of Medicine (now the National Academy of Medicine). Achieving racial equity in the U.S. requires a multipronged policy approach.
