Christian Heritage Week

America’s Christian Heritage Week commemorates the rich Christian heritage of America. For more than four centuries, the teachings of the Bible and Christianity, and the influence of historic Christian leaders, have had a dramatic positive impact on the nation, its culture, and its institutions. America’s Christian Heritage Week celebrates those accomplishments.

Hundreds of official proclamations declaring Christian Heritage Week have been issued by governors, state legislatures, mayors, and local political bodies and officials, but a proclamation has to be requested every year. Each one provides an opportunity for citizens to highlight to the entire community, state, and nation the many positive contributions of Christian faith throughout America’s rich history.

We're asking our supporters to help get Christian Heritage Week declared in your area for the week before, during, or after Thanksgiving. So here's what you can do!

Send a letter to your Governor, state senator, state representative, mayor, and local school board, asking each of them for a proclamation to honor and recognize “Christian Heritage Week.” Here’s a sample letter

[link removed] , or google “[name of your city] contact mayor”.)
Once any official has issued a proclamation, contact your local churches, schools, and civic organizations to let them know about this week. Point them to five historical lessons on our website
[link removed] that provide great information about America’s Christian heritage. And let them know about our new book The American Story: The Beginnings
[link removed] which gives a more in-depth look at our nation's Christian heritage from Columbus to the mid-1800s.

[email protected] and include a copy or picture of the official proclamation so that we can add it to the website. (Over the last several decades, over 700 proclamations have been issued. That number needs to continue to grow each year as we remind all Americans and teach the rising generation about the positive influence of the Bible and Christianity in shaping America.)
