John,
As we count down the days until Election Day, we wanted to share some key accomplishments from Mike’s first term in Congress. Before we ask for your support to make sure Mike gets across the finish line, take a moment to review this list:
Accomplishments by the numbers:
- 20: Number of bipartisan bills supporting veterans introduced
- 12: Number of bills that passed the House
- 4: Number of bills signed into law (on GI Bill eligibility, legal protection for servicemembers impacted by COVID-19, and improving the Speciality Adaptive Housing for veterans)
- 14: In-person town halls held since the start of term
- 40: Virtual town halls
- 230+: House parties held
- $146 million: Construction funds secured for Camp Pendleton to improve facilities and military readiness.
- $300 million: Federal funding secured to clean up toxic pollution and sewage from the Tijuana River Valley
- $1,500,000: Amount saved for constituents through caseworks services
- $25 billion: Amount of funding Mike proposed to extend to the US Postal Service as a crucial lifeline
Other Legislative accomplishments:
- Co-sponsored the Restoring Tax Fairness For States and Localities Act to restore the full State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction
- Introduced The Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2020 to provide GI Bill benefit parity for National Guard and reserve service members
- Introduced The Ensuring Safe Housing for our Military Act legislation to improve housing for military families. Proposals from this bill were included in the 2019 NDAA and are now law
- Introduced The Brian Tally VA Employment Transparency Act -- a bipartisan bill to protect veterans who experience VA medical malpractice
- Secured permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which funds parks and open spaces throughout our district and region
- Released the Select Committee’s Climate Crisis Action Plan to build a clean energy economy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- Introduced The Zero-Emission Vehicles Act to put our country on a path towards cleaner transportation options and reduced emissions
- Led a letter demanding transparency from FEMA regarding distribution of PPE supplies during COVID-19 pandemic
As you can see, Mike has been incredibly busy in Congress -- but he won’t be able to double down on these accomplishments (and more!) without your support in these final weeks.
Can you chip in to close our most important public FEC deadline yet? We set an ambitious goal of raising $25,000 before tomorrow at 11:59 PM and unfortunately we’re still $11,231 short. >> [link removed]
