President Trump's COVID diagnosis and the Vice Presidential debate last week have thrust the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution into the national conversation. These events and the realization that whoever takes the oath of office on January 20, 2021, will be the oldest man to hold the office of U.S. president in our history prompted us to take a closer look at this topic in this special eLesson.

To encourage civil conversation on the subject, we also decided to make this week's Think the Vote debate prompt: Does the public have a right to know about the health of presidential candidates? Encourage your students to join the debate, and both they and you can win gift cards and BRI swag.
How can you ensure that local interests are represented in a country as large and diverse as the United States? This question is at the core of understanding the American experiment in self-government and is one of the central themes of our new Homework Help video on the principle of Federalism.

Meet Angela Ward!

"What's past is prologue," wrote William Shakespeare in The Tempest. As a teacher of both U.S. History and Theatre, as well as a fan of the Bard, Angela Ward is able to bring this concept to life for her students at Pacifica Christian School in Laguna Hills, California.

BoE: Bottom of Email

Dear John,

As our country nears the election, we know that your students are coming to you for help interpreting what they're reading online and seeing in the news. We also know that you're faced with choices every day about what resources to share with your students--and there are so many choices! This is why we wanted to say thank you for sharing ours in your classrooms.

Our staff works tirelessly to bring you lessons and digital resources like our videos and podcasts that share compelling stories, invite your students to wrestle with the big ideas of the past, and make connections to their world today. Our recently released totally digital, full U.S. History textbook, Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Happiness is one of these resources. Each of the 16 chapters comes with an Inquiry Organizer, Decision Point Questions, and Point-Counterpoint essays to guide your students on a path of historical discovery.

Once again, thank you for using the resources we produce in your classrooms and good luck in the coming weeks. Your job is so important and you play such a valuable role in the future success of our country.

All my best,

Laura Vlk
