Georgia voters will elect dozens of sheriffs into office on November 3 – a role that has significant power in the state’s immigration enforcement, jail conditions and policing practices. Along with Georgia NAACP, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR), and New Georgia Project, we launched TransformGA.org, a website dedicated to helping Georgia voters learn more about their local sheriffs ahead of November’s elections where sheriffs are on the ballot – a direct effort to impact a more just criminal legal system.
