Dear
John
,

Many of us are are angry that we didn't use the summer to fix test and trace in England. Thanks to your pressure, the government is finally starting to acknowledge that test and trace must be local. This could be a tipping point.

But there's no time for tweaks. Regional and local public health teams should be doing all contact tracing, not failing private companies. Matt Hancock isn't budging. So we need you to email key politicians that influence the government's top decisions TODAY!
Email the three key pressure points to fix test and trace ([link removed])
As Matt Hancock continues to throw taxpayers' money at chaotic corporations, we think that other key figures, with their responsibilities to scrutinise these choices, need to hear from you.

We need Tory ministers to put their money where their mouth is and give local public health teams the necessary resources to do contract tracing instead of failing private companies

Many of you have tried to get through to him, and it has felt like banging our heads against a brick wall.

So the next step is to pull a pincer movement: we need you to show the government that this issue goes beyond Hancock, by emailing the three key figures in government with relevant responsibilities: Jeremy Hunt (scrutiny of health policy), Michael Gove (test & trace), and Greg Clark (outsourcing). We may not get responses but we have to keep pushing!
Please email Hunt, Gove and Clark NOW! ([link removed])

No matter where you're based, please tell these key government figures to stop wasting public money. We’ve seen that we can reach tipping points and force the cabinet into making U-turns. We just need another push: now is the time to make it clear that we won’t stop fighting until SERCO loses their contract!

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland already have public track and trace - with your help we can win this in England too.
A pincer movement: Put the pressure on Hunt, Gove and Clark ([link removed])

Every email you send adds to the mounting pressure - let’s make this an avalanche that these ministers can’t ignore.

You have built the pressure that has resulted in Robert Jenrick, communities secretary, admitting that ‘local councils and local communities are very good at contact tracing’.

By signing and sharing the petition, emailing Matt Hancock, and even staging socially distanced demonstrations, you have boosted the voices of local leaders in calling for local health teams to be given the cash- not a penny more to SERCO.

Thank you so much for taking action to make our communities safer this winter.

Solidarity,

Cat, Johnbosco, Alice, Chris, Pascale and the We Own It team
