John,
If you’ve heard anything about Amy Coney Barrett - whether it’s that she’ll overturn Roe v. Wade and greenlight abortion bans across the country, or that she’ll strike down the Affordable Care Act and end anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ folks and those living with pre-existing conditions - you’re probably freaked. You may be thinking, “I’ve got to do something.”
Well, young people are coming together to act. Especially if you’ve never called your Senator’s office before, this is the event for you.
This Wednesday, October 14th, at 1pm EST and 4pm EST (whichever you prefer), young people are going to hop on Zoom real quick, and get an update on Amy Coney Barrett’s hearing from experts in Washington, D.C. Then we’ll have a youth activist demonstrate how to make an effective call to your Senator. Then we’ll all start calling, and you can feel free to ask questions at any time. That’s it. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.
Be sure to RSVP here to join young people nationwide on this call!
We’ve heard two things from our friends on Capitol Hill that are concerning:
- That Senators are not getting calls on this nomination like they got on Brett Kavanaugh or on the healthcare repeal bill we ultimately defeated
- That some Democratic Senators have even secretly met with Judge Barrett despite pressure from activists not to treat this nomination like normal
Senators on both sides of the aisle need to feel the pressure to act! And the only people they’ll listen to right now are the people they represent - YOU!
So RSVP here, and bring a friend or two along to call with you. Trust me, you don’t want to get the news a year from now that Roe v. Wade has been struck down and think, “I didn’t do enough.”
