Hi John,

In a new ad, the Trump campaign used footage of Dr. Anthony Fauci without the nation’s top doctor’s awareness and took his words completely out of context for political gain. As cases begin to rise again nationwide, the ad claims that, like Trump, “America is recovering from the coronavirus.”

Even after three nights at Walter Reed for treatment for COVID-19, Donald Trump has continued to downplay the severity of a virus that has taken more than 215,000 American lives and that spread rapidly in his own far-right circle.

Trump has claimed, “I learned a lot about COVID. I learned it by really going to school. This is the real school. This isn't the 'let's read the books' school.' And I get it, and I understand it, and it's a very interesting thing, and I’m going to be letting you know about it.”

What I imagine the president won't tell us about the treatment he received at Walter Reed is that few Americans will be privileged enough to have access to the kind of immediate and quality care that he has received and will continue to receive.

The pandemic revealed many problems within the American health care system. During this crisis, we’ve watched our health care infrastructure fail health care workers and their patients at a time when we needed it most. Donald Trump does not know or care about the reality that low-income families on Long Island face -- and his friend, my opponent Rep. Lee Zeldin, has failed to acknowledge the toll this public health crisis has had on our communities.

I decided to enter this race because I was tired of Washington politicians like Zeldin and Trump ignoring the advice of experts and scientists. When I announced my run, I didn't imagine I would see our public health advisories politicized or our CDC officials muzzled by the administration. But that is where we are today -- and I am even more committed now to winning this race than I was when we launched our campaign last year.

We cannot allow anti-science, self-serving leaders to continue playing politics with our realities. We have just three weeks left to defeat one of Trump's most ardent defenders in the House, and today, I am focused on ensuring we have the budget to combat his libelous attacks and defeat his hyper-partisan agenda on November 3.

The future of public health is on the line -- and I need to know you are with me now more than ever.

Zeldin and his allies will spend millions against me in the next three weeks so they can continue to threaten health care for 20 million people in the middle of a pandemic. Please help me raise $52,500 this week to combat their far-right attacks by pitching in $25, $10, $5, or anything you can now: [link removed]

My grassroots team and I appreciate your support today and always.

With gratitude,

Nancy
