McConnell’s refusal is completely hypocritical considering his history: blocking Merrick Garland’s nomination under President Obama, claiming it was too close to the election even though it was more than 11 months before a new president would be sworn into office. Pushing through a nomination so close to an election isn’t just hypocritical, it deliberately denies the country a voice in the process. Voting is already well underway and allowing people to have a say through the election is a vital component of our democracy.
