John,

After sacrificing everything, our veterans deserve only the best -- I know you agree. But you probably also know the heartbreaking truth that, too often, the needs of our nation's veterans go unmet. And the barriers they are up against seem insurmountable. For those who have given so much, at times, they are not taken seriously enough.

Since National Commander Whitehead testified on Capitol Hill this past February, we've made significant legislative progress to improve the lives of veterans. But work still must be done to cross the finish line.

That's why DAV is committed to tackling the biggest challenges veterans are facing today ...

... challenges like improving veterans' access to mental health care -- an issue that that U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jason Barbiere knows all too well.

When Jason left the military, his hypervigilance left him feeling that nowhere was safe. Jason wasn't getting the urgent help he needed for his PTSD and had nearly given up ... but then he turned to DAV.

Watch Jason's inspiring story. Then, make a special gift to keep up the fight for veterans' access to mental health care and suicide prevention programs and other critical veterans' issues, like helping veterans exposed to toxic substances and equality for women veterans.
