This week: NCUA Board meets; NAFCU keeps pushing for CU relief [ [link removed] ]
While the House and Senate remain in their home districts this week, the Senate Judiciary Committee started hearings with Supreme Court justice nominee Amy Coney Barrett yesterday and will continue through Thursday. The Senate could return to Washington before the election to vote on Barrett's nomination; however, the House is not expected to return until after the election.
NAFCU, CUs pushed forward in 2020 despite unprecedented challenges [ [link removed] ]
The credit union industry has seen unprecedented challenges this year. Despite the uncertainty, the association and its member credit unions have achieved some great wins in 2020 as NAFCU moved forward with its mission of strengthening credit unions and remained hard at work advocating for industry priorities.
Crapo calls on regulators to support FIs facing higher balance sheets [ [link removed] ]
Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, last week sent a letter to NCUA Chairman Rodney Hood and other financial institution regulators calling on them ensure credit unions and banks have the flexibility to meet members' needs amid the coronavirus pandemic.
New Compliance Monitor tackles mortgage servicing requirements, answers Q&As, more [ [link removed] ]
The new edition of NAFCU's Compliance Monitor – available now in its digital format – features a break down of the mortgage servicing notice of error and request for information requirements. In addition, the Monitor notifies credit union compliance officers of the on-demand availability of Virtual BSA School and Virtual Regulatory Compliance School and answers some recent questions the Compliance Team has received.
