Wanted to send you a quick note from the Gwinnett Board of Elections office. Today was the first day of early voting here in Georgia and we are seeing record-breaking turnout. Today was also the first day that our voter protection team was on the ground at the polls. They will be ready to make sure every vote is counted until the polls are closed on Election Night.
The lines at the polls have been stretching out for blocks all over our district, and Georgians are once again facing the results of decades of voter suppression in our own state.
As early voting continues, we expect to see the same tactics we’ve always seen in Georgia — and we’ll be ready for them.
I talked with voters who stood in line today for over 5 hours to vote, and I saw firsthand the dedication of our community. But I also saw firsthand just how broken the system of voting we have in this country is, and we need your help to make this situation better -- because if we plan to win this election, we need to ensure people turn out in record numbers.
My team is ready to go. They were on the ground today making sure that every voter was able to cast a ballot, and they need your help.
