Republican retirements signal pessimism about prospects of retaking House majority

THE WASHINGTON POST

John: 16 House Republicans have announced they won’t seek re-election in 2020 -- and there could be more to come.

This is the perfect opportunity to expand our Majority and advance our agenda #ForThePeople. Chip in now.

House Republicans don’t want to serve in the minority again, they’re sick of having to answer for President Trump’s unhinged tweets and policies, and they don’t want to face more angry constituents expressing their dissatisfaction with their record in Congress.

It’s so bad, Republicans are even withdrawing from seats in battleground states -- the ones that will be key to determining control of the House.

This all goes to show that Republicans aren’t confident at all about their chances of taking back the House, and the retirements will only make it harder for them to do so.

But there’s no guarantee.

While Republicans continue to bow out, we have to be more organized than ever so we can pick up seats and expand our House Majority. Rush in a contribution now →

Don’t let up,

Nancy
