Dear John,

Watch Emgage Michigan's Executive Director Nada Al-Hanooti speak out against hate in Michigan.

Emgage, along with other advocacy organizations and local lawmakers, is proud to announce that the Michigan Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church's anti-Muslim event, titled "9/11 forgotten? Is Michigan surrendering to Islam?", has been canceled after severe condemnation and pressure from Emgage and coalition partners. We want to thank Rep. Andy Levin, Rep. Debbie Dingell, and State Rep. Abdallah Hammoud for their outspoken opposition to the event.

"This is a major win for Emgage and other advocacy organizations in combating Islamophobic and hateful rhetoric, rooted in pure ignorance. This is a perfect example of the power we ALL have to bring change when we speak up, engage ourselves, and stand for what is right." - Emgage CEO Wa'el Alzayat

Pastor Donald Mckay, a self proclaimed "Islamophobe," organized the event scheduled for the 18th anniversary of 9/11 to criticize "interfaith" work and express hate towards the Islamic faith, portraying the religion as a "threat" to America.
