As partners with the World Impact community, we want to share with you about Dr. Alvin Sanders's new book which officially launches tomorrow, October 13, entitled The Uncommon Church: Community Transformation for the Common Good ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
When Dr. Sanders started in urban ministry in 1991, he believed a huge problem was that many had good theology but didn’t live it out well among the urban poor. But now he believes we've come full circle—today, we see many people doing good advocacy in and for poor neighborhoods, but perhaps without a robust theological framework. And when this is the case, the local church can become an afterthought.
We know that this cannot be the best way forward. The Bible makes it clear that the local church is the foundational structure for God's missional purposes, regardless of where it is located. This book states the case for a solid and transformative practice of common good in our urban communities.

Alvin Sanders (PhD, Miami) is the president and CEO of World Impact ([link removed][UNIQID]) . Author of Bridging the Diversity Gap, he previously served as a pastor, church planter, and denominational leader for the Evangelical Free Church of America, leading its All People Initiative ([link removed][UNIQID]) .
Sanders earned a BA in biblical studies from Cincinnati Christian University, an MA in religion and urban ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a PhD in educational leadership from Miami University. He and his family live in Cincinnati.
