Today, the Arizona Democratic Party wants to take time to honor Indigenous Peoples and their culture and history. Arizona's history and culture are inseparable from the history and culture of Natives.

We must also recognize the tremendous hardships Native communities continue to face. The pandemic has only highlighted the gross inequities Native communities experience when it comes to health care and public health resources.

As a state, we must do more to recognize past sins and ensure that Native communities always have a seat at the table.

Although in-person events may be canceled this year, we can still honor and celebrate Native culture by continuing to learn about Native history and by committing to lifting Native voices and addressing the inequities Native communities face.
