Earlier today, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced specific, detailed plans to annex almost 30% of the West Bank if reelected next week. He said he would then move to annex every settlement in the West Bank, pledging to do so in coordination with the Trump administration.

With the Israeli election a week away, a detailed annexation plan now on the table and the US presidential field narrowing, this briefing will be an important discussion of the unprecedented challenges we face and how our movement can rise to the moment.

As summer comes to a close, the presidential primary heats up and Israelis prepare to head to the polls, we’re entering a crucial period for J Street’s work.

We’ve seen how the Trump-Netanyahu partnership and the rise of right-wing ethnonationalism has endangered our core values both in Israel and here at home. In recent months that threat has escalated: Prime Minister Netanyahu has promised, if re-elected, to move forward with West Bank annexation; the White House has hinted it might endorse such a move; and the president’s attempts to use the issues of Israel and anti-Semitism as political weapons have transformed into attacks on the vast majority of American Jews as “disloyal.”

It's clear that all these threats are connected -- and that they require overwhelming, coordinated opposition from pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans and our progressive allies in Israel and at home. From October 26-29, J Street’s “Rise to the Moment” National Conference in Washington, DC will provide the perfect opportunity to mobilize against the far-right, defend our values and promote a better vision of American leadership.
