[2]National Nurses United

My name is
Mari Lopez, and I’m a Community Organizer with National Nurses United and
the California Nurses Association.

Covid-19 has shown us how our health disparities are created by issues of
systemic racism in housing, immigration, employment, and more. Our health
care system is plagued by those same issues. We have to step up and change
this system together – right now – so we can guarantee health care to
everyone regardless of their race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender
identification, employment status, or anything else. Medicare for All
would be a massive step toward a more equitable health care system in our
country.

We need to have these conversations now to bring about the change our
future needs.

[ [link removed] ]RSVP today for one of these conversations happening tomorrow, October
13, at 5pm PT/8pm ET where I’ll be on a panel discussing Redefining Health
Policy in 2020 and Beyond: Racism, Social Movements, and Well-Being.

RSVP here

During this panel, we’ll discuss working at the grassroots level to affect
health policy that would encompass the social and structural changes we
need to promote good health — and how you can be a part of that
change.

Together, we must change our country’s habit of only reacting when the
issues have gotten out of hand and instead focus on redefining health
policy to prevent these issues from growing. That starts with this
conversation to recognize, learn from, and analyze the social movements
that have emerged in response to this crisis.
