Protecting and expanding Social Security is wildly popular with the American people. And right now we have a record level of support in Congress for the Social Security 2100 Act, which would expand benefits while extending the lifespan of the trust fund.

But Republicans are using misinformation to try and torpedo this critical bill and defeat vulnerable freshman members of Congress who support it.

In New Jersey’s 7th congressional district, progressive Democrat Tom Malinowski is fending off attacks from his Republican opponent who claims Rep. Malinowski wants to raise taxes. The problem is, this is patently false.

The Social Security 2100 Act does ask the top 1%―those earning over $400,000 per year―to start paying their fair share into Social Security. But, the bill actually lowers taxes for over 11 million seniors and makes no changes for everyone else―while INCREASING their Social Security benefits, and restoring the Social Security trust fund for the entire 21st Century!

Rep. Malinowski needs our help to fend off this right-wing attack and keep this critical congressional seat blue.
