Today and tomorrow, the European
Parliament’s Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety
will vote on its report on the proposed EU4Health Programme. Moreover,
negotiations will take place on amendments of the CAP 2021-2027
proposals during the meeting of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural
Development. On Wednesday,
Commissioners will discuss, among other things, the 8th Environmental
Action Programme, the Renovation Wave initiative, and the
Communication on lifting barriers to investment for a successful
recovery. On Thursday and Friday, EU leaders meet for a European
Council summit to discuss relations with the United Kingdom, the
epidemiological situation, as well as climate change and relations
with Africa.

European Parliament
The Committee on Environment,
Public Health and Food Safety will vote on the proposed EU4Health
Programme, which aims to enhance health promotion and resilience of
health systems across the EU. It also focuses on increasing
cooperation at EU level in order to improve preparedness in case of a
health crisis. Furthermore, the Committee on Agriculture and Rural
Development will negotiate possible amendments on the CAP 2021-2027
proposals. Moreover, on Thursday, the European Parliament holds a
public hearing on the European Citizens’ Initiative entitled ‘Minority
Safepack – one million signatures for diversity in
Europe’.

On Tuesday, Commissioners Schinas
and Johansson, will participate in a meeting with Jürgen Stock,
Secretary General of INTERPOL. On Wednesday, the College of
Commissioners will focus on the Communication on lifting barriers to
investment for a successful recovery, Recovery Wave, Methane strategy,
and the Chemicals strategy for sustainability. Also, the 8th
Environmental Action Programme is planned to be launched on Wednesday,
providing a framework for the EU's overall environmental policy
development. It guides environmental policy-making by identifying
priorities and setting out a long-term vision and goals.

European Council
EU leaders will meet for a European
Council summit in Brussels on Thursday and Friday. Leaders will
discuss the withdrawal agreement and negotiations with the UK, the
EU’s objective of climate neutrality by 2050, and EU-Africa relations.
Moreover, leaders hope to coordinate the work on the development and
distribution of a vaccine at EU level.
