Greetings all,
Yesterday 130 comrades met on Zoom to talk through potential outcomes for the election and what we can do to prepare. We know that whatever happens during the election, it is extremely likely that rightwing and white supremacist violence will escalate. There is also the strong possibility that Trump will use intimidation tactics and the courts to influence the outcome. It is imperative that we are developing our analysis as socialists, and we know that we can only be powerful if we are talking through our fears and actively preparing. To recap, we will be:
- Developing a shared analysis about what's going on and how to respond (we all saw this summer how quickly our Democratic state and local leaders jump to call the National Guard to maintain "peace" and we know the courts won't save us - what can we do ourselves and with our community?)
- Organizing with DSA members in your area to develop relationships, map resources, and connect to other local collectives and orgs already doing similar work
- Learning skills needed to make this happen, like organizing conversations, information security, deescalation, etc. We will be announcing forthcoming trainings as we get them scheduled.
Please join us tomorrow (Monday) at 5:30 for an organizing skills training. The organizing conversation is an essential skill for bringing people into a shared vision, forming deep relationships, and building power in organization. Register here. We will get more trainings on the calendar as well as emailing you as we set them. If you are not a member and would like to join, please do!
Solidarity, comrades.
