Friend,

I came to the United States alone at the age of 16 because my parents so strongly believed in the best that this country could be. Since then, I’ve been fighting to build that America — an inclusive and diverse America, a progressive and a people-first America, and an America that lifts up regular folks who are the heartbeat of our communities and our country. As an organizer, a state senator, and now a member of Congress, I’ve seen again and again that we can create change and achieve progress by working together, building a movement, and stepping up when it matters most.

The moment we’re in right now demands that kind of movement, team — one that actually delivers for everyone across America. One that refuses to accept this corrupt president’s hateful, exclusionary policies and a status quo designed to let billionaires and corporations get richer at the expense of working people and families. One where health care is finally guaranteed to you as a human right, where the minimum wage is a living wage, and where we get the relief necessary to withstand this pandemic and its economic crisis.

A movement that puts people first is also about cancelling student debt, passing the College for All Act, and expanding Social Security. It’s about fighting for racial justice, investing in bold climate action, and humanely reforming our immigration system. And, of course, it’s about doing everything possible to protect and expand voting rights so every voice is heard.

We’re just 23 days away from Election Day, and my team is hitting the ground running to get out the vote for progressives across the country, up and down the ballot, so we can make all of that a reality. Together, I know we can build a powerful coalition of progressive fighters to bring about the bold transformation we believe in — but that takes resources, especially because I will never take a dime from corporate PACs. I need your help so that we can raise $15,000 before our final mandatory deadline of the election on October 14th.

If you’ve been waiting and looking for the best moment to pitch in, that moment is now. Will you chip in with $5 as your first donation or whatever you can afford to make sure we meet this critical mid-month goal?

People like to say that everything we care about is on the line in this election. They’re right — but I also like to think of this moment as one where we can have an immediate and maximum impact on those things we care about. With the future of the presidency, Supreme Court, our House Democratic majority, and the Senate hanging in the balance, we are voting for candidates and for the power to make Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, economic equality, and humane immigration reform the law of the land. Organizers have fought for decades to see these reforms, and now, we could finally win the electoral strength to make them happen.

None of that is possible unless WE make it so. Our organizers and volunteers are going all in, and we need your support. Make a donation of $5 before our October 14th mid-month deadline so we have the resources to get out the vote and transform our country.

Thank you for stepping up when it matters most.

In solidarity,

Pramila Jayapal
