Mutual Aid
Silicon Valley DSA has officially chartered the Mutual Aid Working Group! While it took us a little bit to make the paperwork official, weāve been busy since shelter-in-place began in March. We work closely with South Bay Mutual Aid on most of our projects. Weāve sewn masks, helped pay for and deliver groceries to community members in need, provided feminine hygiene products to unhoused women, and provided food, sanitation supplies, and PPE for nearby farmworkers. We have delivered $36,000 in aid to our community, including distributing almost 10,000 KN95 masks!
Coming soon: South Bay Mutual Aid is setting up an online clothing āstoreā where community members in need can request clothing donated by SBMA and SV DSA members. Our first donation drive Saturday brought in hundreds of items of clothing. (By the way, we could use some help inventorying and photographing the clothes. Just fill out this form and say āhelp with clothing storeā under āDo you have other skills you would be willing to provide?ā) Stay tuned for more info on future drives, and for how to boost the store itself on social media!
