NBC News: “Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious diseases expert, emphasized the dangers of COVID-19, contradicting President Donald Trump’s false claim that the coronavirus was only as deadly as the flu.” 

 

Trump was still infected with the virus when he tweeted: “Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu...Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it.”

 

Trump’s insistence on downplaying the virus is downright dangerous. Not only is he putting lives at risk during a pandemic that’s already killed 210,000 Americans but he’s also distracting our nation’s experts from actually addressing said crisis. As Fauci puts it: “I have a job to do, and my personally contradicting the president of the United States publicly is not a good thing if I want to get my job done.”
