John,

I never in my wildest dreams imagined a future in politics, but the 2016 election was a big wake-up call for me.

Like so many others across the country, I knew an unchecked Donald Trump would prove to be a very dangerous thing -- but starting the process of running for office wasn't easy, especially as a first-time, woman candidate. I had no earthly idea of what it would take to run and win.

Thankfully, Emerge America -- a national organization that recruits, trains, and provides a network for first-time, Democratic women candidates -- was there to provide me with a much-needed crash course in the fundamentals of politics.

In the last 13 years, Emerge America has trained more than 4,000 women to run for office, including my colleagues in the U.S. House, Reps. Xochitl Torres Small, Abigail Spanberger, Lucy McBath, and Deb Haaland.

With Trump's relentless attacks on women, it's more imperative now than ever before that we keep strong women in Congress. There are millions and millions of American women whose voices must be heard, and they're counting on us.

That's why I'm asking you to split a donation of $5 right now to help keep Xochitl, Abigail, Lucy, Deb, and myself fighting back in Congress -- can I count on you?

We elected a record number of women to Congress in the 2018 midterms. But while women make up over 50% of our country's population, we still only account for 23.4% of the representatives in Congress.

We sent a loud message to the Trump administration and his supporters that we are not going to stand by while they attack our environment, our health care, our reproductive rights, our public education, and more -- but there's still so much work to do.

John, we need your help to make sure that women from Washington state to Washington, D.C. can continue to hold Donald Trump, his administration, and the Republicans in Congress accountable.

So please, split a donation of $5 or more between Xochitl, Abigail, Lucy, Deb, and myself to help keep strong women fighting for you in Congress.

Thank you,

Dr. Kim Schrier
