We have great news: Biden currently has a 16-point lead over Trump, according to a new CNN poll of likely voters nationwide.
But we can’t celebrate just yet. “Most political analysts predicted former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton would capture the White House in 2016 based on the strength of her national polling,” POLITICO reminds us. “Although she did win the popular vote, Trump won the Electoral College and emerged victorious after narrowly flipping a group of Midwestern swing states and some other battlegrounds.”
If history has taught us anything, it’s that good polling numbers early on could actually hurt Democrats’ chances. We CANNOT get complacent, not when we have someone in the White House who knowingly spreads COVID-19 and downplays its severity for personal gain.
It is imperative that Americans show up in droves at the polls and vote Donald Trump out of office on Nov. 3. And we at Progressive Majority want to encourage voters to do even more than that -- we want Americans to engage directly with the political process and make their voices heard.
