Children embody potential and give us hope for the future. Even in the most trying times, I can't help but feel optimistic when I think about the young people that the Children's Defense Fund serves.
In July, CDF Freedom Schools® scholars from across the country participated in the National Day of Social Action and told us what they would vote for, given the chance. They understand that voting is an inherently optimistic action, because by casting your vote, you're declaring that you can envision a better tomorrow. From quality health care to a well-protected environment--and, yes, more time for recess--they told us exactly what they envision for the future.
Now, it's up to us to help make that future possible.
