This year has shown us the critical importance of good leadership.

President Trump and his buddy Mike Garcia have consistently refused to assist our struggling communities in the midst of a global pandemic, blazing wildfires, and an economic crisis the likes of which we haven't seen since the Great Depression.

We deserve better than that.

We need strong, moral leadership in Congress -- and that's why I'm more motivated than ever in this election. I will cut through the constant lies from the president and the Republican party and will get right to work to make sure we can begin to rebuild and recover safely.

But to be honest with you, John, I am more than a little stressed about the amount of money Republicans are spending on this toss-up race.

Republican special interest groups are pumping a lot of cash into Garcia's campaign coffers, while we don't accept a nickel from corporate PACs or D.C. lobbyists. They love his voting record and are desperate to try and keep him in Congress.

Because I refuse to take a dime from corporate PACs, we need grassroots supporters like you to meet our fundraising goals. If you have a few spare dollars, can you please chip in $5 to our campaign?

This race is neck-and-neck and, with ballots arriving in voters' mailboxes this past week, so much is still unknown.

But what I know is this: We are running a race filled with compassion, leadership, and heart. We are focused on lifting others up and giving people a helping hand when they need it -- and right now, a lot of people need it.

These qualities are what we need in Congress right now, and they are what I will bring to Washington when elected. However, right now, we're in real danger of being blown out by all this special-interest cash flooding to prop up Mike.
