Today, Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed to annex huge portions of the West Bank if he wins reelection.
Unlike the vague electoral sloganeering we’ve heard from Netanyahu in the past, today he gave specifics. Upon reelection, he’d move to annex almost 30% of the West Bank -- immediately. Then, he said, he’d move to annex every West Bank settlement.
These actions would condemn Palestinians to endless occupation without self-determination or basic civil rights. They would doom Israelis and Palestinians to unending conflict.
To respond to this unprecedented and imminent threat, House leaders need to act NOW to pass H.Res.326, legislation that puts Congress firmly on record against annexation and in support of a two-state solution.
The resolution already has the support of three-quarters of the Democratic caucus. With Netanyahu pledging to act immediately after the election, the time to call a vote is NOW.
