Dear Friends-

While it is 24 days until November 3,7 million voters ([link removed]) have already cast their ballots and about a million more are voting every day! A majority of states are already voting, including Colorado, Alaska, and Montana, where ballots were mailed yesterday.

The success of IWillVote.com ([link removed]) has been record-breaking. Voters continue to use it as a resource to check registration status, register to vote, learn about the choices available to cast their ballot, and to find out where and when to vote. See below the widget that you can now add to help promote it!

I know how time during COVID can make a few days feel like a few weeks but we are still so very proud of Senator Harris’ debate performance this week. Senator Harris made the case to the American people on how the Biden-Harris administration will contain COVID-19, build the economy back better, and bring our country together. She was singularly focused on talking to voters at home about what a Biden-Harris White House will mean for their lives and the issues important to them. We also quickly linked Flywilvote.com to iwillvote.com which once again saw a surge in traffic.

This week both campaigns went to Arizona and Nevada. The Biden Bus made a stop in Window Rock, Arizona for the First Week of Voting and / Battle for the Soul of America Bus Tour. Vice President Biden and Senator Harris made a point to visit with tribal leaders, and committed to ensuring tribes have a seat at the table and honoring the Nation to Nation relationship. The successful release of the Biden Harris Plan for Tribal Nations ([link removed]) underscores their commitment.

Nevada lawmakers condemned the Pence rally plan on the heels of the suspected 'superspreader' White House event. NV state Sen. Yvanna Cancela questioned whether Pence should visit after 1,600 Nevadans died from the virus. “I am horrified by Mike Pence and this entire administration’s constant attempts to gaslight the American people and doubt the severity of this crisis,’ Nevada Sen. Yvanna Cancela said.”

"Nevadans have lost their jobs, their lives, their loved ones, and any sense of normalcy. That’s not a ‘great job.’ It’s a devastating betrayal of Trump and Pence’s responsibility to keep people safe. Nevadans have had enough, and they’re putting this failed presidency to an end," said Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez.

Ahead of Pence’s rally in Boulder City the DNC War Room released a new television ad, “Had Enough? ([link removed]) ,” contrasting Trump’s claim that his administration has done a “great job” responding to the pandemic with the devastating reality of his failed response.

And the NYT highlighted: “Pence touted the administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, claiming they saved “countless American lives.” Trump contracted the virus last week and the country’s death toll has topped 211,000. The pandemic has hit Nevada particularly hard with tourism down and unemployment at one of the highest rates in the country.”

Vice President Biden traveled to Las Vegas where he spoke at an event with Latino leaders in East Las Vegas followed by a successful drive-in event. Biden encouraged voters to visit IWillVote.com and outlined his plan to do what Trump has failed to— contain COVID-19 and get the American people the help they need and deserve.

On Thursday, Trump said he would not participate in a virtual debate ([link removed]) next week. Vice President Biden was prepared to accept the debate commission’s proposal for a virtual town hall, but he refused because he does not want to face questions from the voters about his failures on COVID and the economy. As a result, Biden will instead take questions from voters at an ABC primetime town hall ([link removed]) on October 15, as he has done on several occasions recently.

Vice President Biden looks forward to participating in that final debate on October 22. Trump can show up, or he can decline again. That’s his choice. Given his refusal to participate in next week’s planned town hall debate, we hope the Debate Commission will make the final October 22 debate a town hall format, so Trump is not able to evade accountability. Voters should have a chance to ask questions of both candidates, directly.

Trump is pushing to restart crowded, largely maskless rallies ([link removed]) while he is potentially still infected with COVID-19. Only a week after being diagnosed, Trump’s campaign and the White House have never taken proper safety precautions against the coronavirus. Instead of taking responsibility for his behavior, Trump shamefully and without evidenceblamed Gold Star families ([link removed]) for giving him coronavirus. Trump’s disrespect for veterans and military families has no end.

This administration has failed to ensure the health and safety of so many in this country, especially our children. According to the Miami Herald, “Florida has seen the second-largest increase of uninsured children ([link removed]) in the nation during the first three years of President Donald Trump’s administration.” This administration continues to put our lives at risk.

The failed plot to kidnap Governor Whitmer was not just chilling, it better be another powerful reminder of what is at stake. As our dear partners at the Democratic Governors Association shared, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer called out the President’s hateful rhetoric after the FBI thwarted a plot to kidnap her.

“Hate groups heard the President's words not as a rebuke, but as a rallying cry. As a call to action. When our leaders speak, their words matter."

Yours in the Fight,
Mũthoni

Senator Kamala Harris Won the Debate

After the vice presidential debate, the DNC War Roomreleased a video ([link removed]) of Senator Harris calling out Pence for lying about the Trump administration’s record on coronavirus and health care.

What we saw from Pence was more of the same lies and interruptions ([link removed]) . Pence was completely unable to answer for his and Trump’s failures. In sharp contrast to Pence’s lies, Senator Harris spoke directly to the American people. She spoke to working families about how the Biden-Harris administration will contain COVID-19, build the economy back better, and bring our country together.

Trump and Pence have no plan for the issues facing American families.
* Pence still wouldn’t outline a plan to address the coronavirus.
* Pence and Trump still don’t have a plan to protect health care for Americans with pre-existing conditions.
* Pence didn’t answer the moderator’s questions — either to explain the failures of the last four years or what Trump and Pence will do in the next four.

Just because Pence doesn’t shout, doesn’t mean he didn’t lie and interrupt.
* Pence mansplained and interrupted Senator Harris and Susan Page.
* Pence didn’t answer the questions he was asked.
* Pence was rude, ineffectual, weak.

Biden Campaigns Plan for Tribal Nations

This week, the Biden Campaign released its Plan for Tribal Nations ([link removed]) . Following the release of the plan, the DNC’s own Native Caucus Chair Rion Ramirez made the following statement:

"Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have a bold vision for Indian Country – one built on trust, respect, sovereignty, and economic opportunity. The plan they put forth today is the most progressive plan ever authored by a presidential nominee in the history of our great country. As Chair of the DNC Native Caucus, I am proud to stand with them as we fight for a better future for our tribal nations."

Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris are committed to upholding the U.S.’s trust responsibility to tribal nations, strengthening the Nation-to-Nation relationship between the United States and Indian tribes, and working to empower tribal nations to govern their own communities and make their own decisions. With over 574 federally recognized Native American tribes in the United States, the Biden-Harris plan will:
* Strengthen the Nation-to-Nation relationship
* Provide reliable, affordable, quality health care and address health disparities
* Restore tribal lands, address climate change, and safeguard natural and cultural resources
* Ensure Native communities are safer and tackle the crisis of violence against Native women, children, and the elderly
* Expand economic opportunity and community development in Native communities
* Invest in education and youth engagement
* Meet obligations to and commemorate Native veterans
* Ensure Native Americans can exercise their right to vote

DNC Af-Am and AAPI ads released with Latinx rolling out next week

AP Article “ A senior warning sign for Trump: 'Go Biden' cry at Villages”

An AP article ([link removed]) featured a story on Biden supporters, in The Villages parading around the community on golf carts. Trump appears to be losing support, within this Florida community that was once considered a Republican stronghold.

A parade of over 300 golf carts supporting Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden caravanned to the Sumter County Elections office to cast their ballots during early voting Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, in The Villages, Fla. (AP Photo/John Raoux)

Then she let out a whoop and two surprising words: “Go Biden!”

It’s not a cry that might be expected to resound in The Villages, and it’s certainly not one that is encouraging to President Donald Trump. Older voters helped propel him to the White House — the Pew Research Center estimates Trump led among voters 65 and older by 9 percentage points in 2016 — and his campaign hoped they would be a xxxxxx to cement a second term.

DNC Voting Education Autoreply Campaign

The DNC is continuing to expand its voter education efforts by launching a Twitter auto-reply campaign that will provide voting information directly to users who opt-in by interacting with a trigger tweet from @TheDemocrats.

DNC STATEMENTS AND PRESS RELEASES

New DNC Video: Trump and Pence Peddle Same Coronavirus Lies

Ahead of the vice presidential debate, the DNC War Room released a new video ([link removed]) highlighting how Pence, the chair of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, has consistently repeated the same lies ([link removed]) Trump peddles about the pandemic.

DNC on Trump’s Child Separation Policy

DNC Chair Tom Perez released ([link removed]) the following statement after reports that Donald Trump’s former Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a 2018 meeting, ‘We need to take away children’:

“‘We need to take away children.’ It is hard to imagine crueler words than those. And yet, that is exactly what the Trump administration said two years ago when they initiated their child separation policy. As a former assistant attorney general at the Justice Department under President Obama, I am appalled by such a gross abuse of power. Not only did the Trump administration willfully separate children from their families, but they lied about it. There are not enough words to fully capture the depravity of this administration and the suffering Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions caused. No matter how many years pass, these horrors will leave an indelible mark on our history. Now we must move forward by electing leaders of empathy and compassion. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris know that families belong together. And they will ensure this country lives up to its place as the world’s beacon of freedom and opportunity for all.”

Trump Abandons Struggling Americans And Puts Our Economy At Further Risk

Trump has made clear that he has no interest in the human and economic toll of a pandemic that continues to ravage the country and wreck our economy because of his failed response. In a tweet, Trump abruptly walked away from stimulus talks ([link removed]) until after the election, once again abandoning millions of Americans who are in need of relief.

DNC on Trump Pulling Out of COVID-19 Relief Package Talks

DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after Donald Trump tweeted his reckless decision to pull out of negotiations over a COVID-19 relief package:

“Donald Trump has abandoned the American people yet again. First, he cut unemployment benefits. Now he’s playing politics with lifesaving COVID relief. This pandemic is not over — average Americans are still facing overwhelmed hospitals, mass layoffs, and an uncertain future. Over 210,000 Americans have died from this virus and counting, millions are still out of work, and Donald Trump thinks we’re out of the woods? Americans need relief. They need a president who understands their suffering and will act to end this pandemic, not someone who only cares about his election prospects. Donald Trump refuses to put the American people first. That’s why we need Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are committed to ending this pandemic, providing the American people with the relief they need and deserve, and helping our nation build back better.”
