Friend --
The Senate Judiciary Committee is a coronavirus hot spot.
Two Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee tested positive for COVID-19 after attending Amy Coney Barrett's nomination ceremony.
Two more members of the Senate Judiciary Committee were at the event, were likely exposed, and are now quarantining.
When they attended this event without masks and in close quarters, they put politics over public health. When they refused to pass a coronavirus relief bill because they're too busy rushing forward a Supreme Court nomination, they put politics over public health.
And now, by moving forward with a rushed hearing, when multiple members of our committee have either tested positive for a deadly virus or are quarantining because of likely exposure to a deadly virus, they are putting politics over public health.
There is only one logical and safe solution: Postpone the hearing. The Senate is already closed until October 19 for the health and safety of my colleagues and our staff. No hearing is worth risking a single life.
If you support the health and safety of senators and our staff, please sign your name here to tell Senators Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham to postpone this hearing until the Senate safely returns on October 19.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Patrick Leahy
U.S. Senator
