Best Transit Week Kick-Off Yet!

We had an incredible showing of local and state elected officials, as well as local transit officials, at our 4th Annual Transit Week Kick-Off. They all spoke boldly about the success of Rapid service and the need for a 21st century system. They spoke about the importance of robust public transit for economic opportunity, to address climate change, to address our crisis of traffic injuries and fatalities, and to address our record traffic congestion.

Supervisors Mar and Haney supported our 30x30 campaign, and our host Supervisor Mar also spoke up for our campaign for 29-Sunset Rapid service. Some praised the success of the Rapid routes they rode, making Muni fast and convenient. Some spoke of the need for funding to get the service we need - and the need for us to turn out the vote for funding measures. We have more decision-makers and leaders who understand the importance of excellent public transit and their role in making it happen than we've had in a while.

Again and again the speakers thanked San Francisco Transit Riders, and we were reminded that it is us, the riders and advocates, who lead. We - that is, you - make change happen. Elected officials have many constituents to listen to. Boards and agencies do as well. By being an organized and vocal constituency we can continue to make a bolder vision of public transit a reality - public transit that serves all riders, that truly connects the city, that is efficient, welcoming, and easy to use.

We can't do it without you. We are gratified with more email sign-ups, new memberships, and member renewals than during any other Transit Week. Let's keep the momentum going - join us for our other major Transit Week events, and we'll see you on the bus!

Equitable Transportation and the Climate Crisis

Thanks to the support from our friends at Spin (who made a great case at our Kick-Off for the importance of 30x30 and the role of private business in making it happen), we're hosting an in-depth panel and workshop to talk about the climate and transportation challenges facing our communities. This discussion isn’t limited to the panelists - we want YOU to join in and share your thoughts during a breakout session. Let's work together to find potential solutions!

Advance registration strongly encouraged.

Second Annual Rider-First Awards Party!

Let's celebrate - tickets are still available!

We're growing the pro-transit movement, and a big part of that is showing our appreciation for those whose actions help put transit riders first. We'll be recognizing some great people at SFMTA, as well as Muni operators and others. Beer, wine, and light food will be provided.

This is a special celebration of our milestones of the past couple years, and growing the pro-transit movement. Reserve your spot and your SFTR t-shirt today!
