SANDER RUE FOR SENATE DISTRICT 23
ALBUQUERQUE WESTSIDE

I was born in Missoula, Montana in 1954. My family moved to Albuquerque when I was 9 years old and have lived here ever since. After graduating from Manzano High School, I attended the University of New Mexico and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. While at UNM, I was president of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. I am a residential certified real estate appraiser and currently own my own small business. I am currently serving my third term in the New Mexico State Senate, where it has been an honor and privilege to represent our families. Over the years, I have received numerous awards and recognition for my bi-partisanship and government transparency legislation. My most significant achievement to date has been legislation creating the New Mexico Sunshine Portal. I continue to work in requiring state government to become more open and transparent so the citizens of New Mexico can become fully engaged in the policy-making process and better understand how their tax payer
dollars are being spent. Most recently, I have carried legislation, and will do so again, to require public disclosure of settlement agreements filed against the State and paid for with tax payer dollars. Over the years, I have been involved in youth sports. I enjoy yardwork and toiling away in my gardens. I also admit to being a gym rat. My wife, Wendy, and I have resided in Senate District 23 for the past 25 years where we have raised 4 children and recently welcomed our first grandchild into the family.
