“Abbott’s order closing ballot drop-off sites is voter suppression — plain and simple.”
— Houston Chronicle
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order limiting mail-in ballot drop-off sites to only ONE per county, closing drop-off sites across the state.
John: This is voter suppression.
This is what the impact of Gov. Abbott’s executive order will look like in Democratic Harris County alone:
-
In Harris County, there are 4.7 MILLION TEXANS.
-
The county is 1,777 SQUARE MILES.
-
We went from 12 ballot drop-off sites to only ONE.
John, Texans will be forced to travel to the lone remaining ballot drop-off site in their county to deliver their vote from home ballot, regardless of the distance.
Republicans will do whatever it takes to win the election and that means they’ll do whatever it takes to suppress Americans’ voting rights. That’s their strategy. To cheat.
That’s why Republicans are suing states for mailing ballots and applications to voters, sending poll watchers to intimidate voters at polling places, slowing down mail delivery at the Postal Service, and now, closing ballot drop-off locations.
The attacks on voting from home aren’t slowing down any time soon. That’s why we do what we do.
Thanks,

Vote From Home 2020 is a grassroots movement that's making vote by mail more accessible. With a $25 donation, we'll send vote by mail applications to 20 voters. COVID-19 has brought America to a halt, and with it almost all in-person voter mobilization efforts. While volunteers can’t get on buses to swing states or go door-to-door right now, we still must get out the vote where it counts. By sending vote by mail ballots to targeted states and following up with text and calls to voters, we can ensure the 2020 general election is safe and accessible. Please forward this email if you know someone who may be interested. Our average gift is just under $25 so consider donating that today to support voting rights. |
