Dear John,

I have some exciting news to share with you. I wrote an essay that’s featured in a new anthology—out today—showcasing our original research and analysis.

This new book, called Too Many Times [[link removed]], features powerful perspectives on fighting our gun violence crisis. I’m proud that Giffords Law Center is featured alongside leaders from New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.

My essay focuses on the lifesaving power of extreme risk protection order laws, which can temporarily disarm someone in crisis who poses a danger to themselves or others. These laws empower individuals to take action when they see warning signs—and they are proven to work.

Last year, our research team traveled to Florida to collect thousands of pages of case files to analyze that state’s new extreme risk law. This February we released a report documenting over 200 instances where the law was successfully used to intervene when someone threatened violence.

Extreme risk laws are saving lives. And our experts are helping to write, enact, implement, and analyze them. We couldn’t do this critical work without your support. So if you are able, please chip in to fuel our leading-edge efforts today. [[link removed]]

With gratitude,
Robyn
