We're fifty-odd days away from the 2019 elections. Here are a few folks you should know about:

• We talk a lot about Lina Hidalgo, RFS alum and Harris County Judge, but only because she's absolutely giving us a lot to talk about. Right now, she'sfighting to drastically overhaul the bail system in Harris County that was holding poor people in custody simply because they couldn't pay in cash.
• Representative Josie Raymond in Kentucky, another RFS alum, is leading efforts to get free pre-school for all. The first step: A task force to determine how to pay for it. She's going about this the right way.
• On Tuesday, current candidate Cinda Danh became the first Asian American woman to make the final ballot for Lynn City Council in Massachusetts. The video of her entering her victory party will make you emotional (and on a Tuesday!)
• Another recurring alum in this newsletter, Pennsylvania Representative Malcolm Kenyatta has an op-ed in the Pennsylvania Capital-Star on his efforts to bring more mental health resources to PA schools. It will literally save lives.
