Hello --

One of the worst parts of running for office these days is raising money.

It's an example of how broken our elections are after Citizens United. Some political candidates spend more time in a windowless room asking big donors for money than talking to voters.

I'm one of the lucky ones because I spend significantly less time fundraising like that and a lot more time talking to voters because of small contributions from folks like you.

In fact, the majority of donations to our campaign have come from people like you chipping in time after time -- our average online contribution last month was just $30!

And I want that to continue in these final weeks. Montanans are already voting and this election is being decided as we speak. So the less time I spend fundraising, the more time I'll be out there convincing voters to join our campaign and vote for me.

The response to these emails is always so amazing, but our fundraising has dipped the last few days. Can I count on you to add a contribution of any amount to our campaign today? I wouldn't ask today if it wasn't so important:

Glad to know I can always count on this team to step up and help keep me on the campaign trail. That matters!

Thanks,

-- Steve
