Mitch McConnell likes to call himself the “Grim Reaper of the Senate.” He has let legislation passed by the House on everything from the minimum wage to health care to Covid relief sit without so much as a vote in the Senate. He has completely re-shaped the federal judiciary in the image of Donald Trump.

Yet, Susan Collins has said twice this week she would vote again for Mitch McConnell as Senate majority leader.

Collins has been saying one thing and doing another for far too long. She says she is pro-choice, but votes to confirm dozens of anti-choice judges. She won’t tell Mainers if she supports Donald Trump for a second term, but she has voted with him 94% of the time. She calls herself bipartisan, and then supports a Majority Leader who prides himself on his partisanship and divisiveness.
