Friend — The first of two critical House votes on the environment are taking place tomorrow — and whether or not we move to permanently ban offshore drilling off large swaths of our coasts could come down to a mere handful of votes.

If we win these votes, it's a huge slap in the face to Trump, who's been throwing all his weight behind expanding drilling.

But to pull it off we need to ramp up our efforts in these next 24 hours: more calls, more emails, more grassroots lobbying in Congress. We can't do it without your support.

The work doesn't stop there. Congress is poised to take on a slew of vital environment fights between now and the end of September, including:

• Protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: Trump is preparing to hand out drilling leases in the cultural and biological heart of the Arctic Refuge, the coastal plain — and Big Oil could get their hands on this area before the year is out. The House will vote in just two days on a bill that would restore protections against drilling in the Arctic Refuge's coastal plain but some representatives are still on the fence. • Blocking Trump's attempts to sell out our national monuments: The administration is fast-tracking destructive mining operations in some of our most treasured public lands, including Grand Staircase-Escalante, Bears Ears, and even around the Grand Canyon. • Restoring protections to endangered species before it's too late: Trump's recent rollbacks to the Endangered Species Act are a devastating blow to wildlife already on the brink. • Block loosened restrictions on toxic methane pollution: Trump's decision to eliminate federal requirements around methane leak inspections is so extreme even oil and gas companies are opposed to it. • Ensuring full, permanent, and dedicated funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF): The permanent reauthorization of LWCF earlier this year was a clear victory for our national, state, and local parks. But permanent reauthorization is only half the battle. As Congress debates government funding this month, it will be crucial to seize the momentum from the reauthorization victory to pass legislation providing full, permanent, and dedicated funding for LWCF as part of the broader appropriations package.
