Fighting Racist Policing Programs

This spring CR Portland and the Care Not Cops Coalition took big swings at the racist Gang Enforcement Team through mobilizations, media, and community events. Our Care Not Cops demands compelled a Portland decision-maker to boldly propose defunding the anti-gang policing program!

In the Bay area, the local Sheriff attempted to steamroll ahead with another Urban Shield this year, but met our strong opposition and was defeated-- again! CR Oakland and the Stop Urban Shield coalition mobilized powerfully and defended our victory against the largest SWAT training in the world.
Our organizing blocked his ill-intended plans and defunded Urban Shield for good.
