Dear John:
The latest polling shows a deadheat in the Maine Senate race, where Democrat Sara Gideon is running to oust Republican Susan Collins. This race could decide control of the U.S. Senate -- and the fate of health care for millions of Americans.
No one better expresses the stakes of the fight for affordable health care than Ady Barkan, who will join us next week to make calls to get Sara Gideon elected!
Note: Our 2020 volunteer team has grown by leaps and bounds -- that means we can make a bigger impact, but it also means an uptick in costs.
Few individuals have had a greater impact on the critical Senate election in Maine than my friend Ady Barkan. He didn’t just help raise $4 million for Susan Collins’ future opponent during the Brett Kavanaugh fight -- he sent a clear message that every politician could hear: “If you threaten our health care, we will defeat you.”
Liuba Grechen Shirley made history when she petitioned the FEC and became the first woman approved to spend campaign funds on childcare, a decision paved the way for more working parents to run for office. After coming within inches of an upset victory for Congress on Long Island, Liuba founded Vote Mama to help fellow moms run for office.
Having Ady and Liuba join our phone bank next week is a powerful statement about how important it is that we elect Sara Gideon to the U.S. Senate from Maine -- and phone banking is the #1 ask from the Gideon campaign for volunteers.
I’ve been blown away by how this community is mobilizing to win in November. Each week our volunteer list has grown, and for every person who comes to one of our phone banks, three more of you told us you’re already volunteering with another campaign -- that’s great! Please get involved however you can.
Thank you for everything you are doing, and hope you can join us next week,
-- Brad
