Hi John,
The President made it clear from the start: He was standing up for the American people, and he didn't care who opposed him. And I'm so glad he did!
Just this week he proposed lowering refugee admissions to the lowest level in history!
He is helping Arizona more than anyone else has:
After years of leading the world in refugee admissions, the number of refugees admitted to the U.S. has plummeted under the Trump administration.
The Trump administration proposed Wednesday that the U.S. would admit no more than 15,000 refugees in fiscal year 2021, which began Oct. 1. That is the lowest number since the refugee program began in 1980, and 3,000 fewer than the 18,000 ceiling the Trump administration set in 2020, the previous historic low.
Arizona has long been one of the main states for accepting refugees from around the world.
"The President’s proposal for refugee resettlement in Fiscal Year 2021 reflects the Administration’s continuing commitment to prioritize the safety and well-being of Americans, especially in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic," the statement said.
