Dear John,

I just wanted to remind you to tune into Facebook Live at 4:30pm this afternoon for one of the highlights of Climate Action Week: a special Facebook Live event featuring youth climate activists! To watch, head over to the OLCV Facebook page at 4:30pm!

In honor of Youth Climate Action Day, we'll hear stories from our interns and youth volunteers about how they got involved in climate activism, how climate change is affecting them, and how this election will affect their future. We hope you'll join us in showing your support by liking, sharing, and commenting! This is going to be a fun and inspiring event, and we'll also be introducing OLCV's two newest staff members, Tia Hatton and Adam Kane. Click here to watch at 4:30pm! You won't want to miss it!

Best,

Francesca Varela

Dear John,

As we head into day three of Climate Action Week, I’m so grateful for all the amazing volunteers who showed up to take action so far! There’s still time to join in and help get pro-climate candidates elected: sign up here!

We got things started yesterday with Eileen Kiely, who’s running for State Senator in the Bend area against incumbent Senator Knopp—one of the climate deniers who walked out on the Clean Energy Jobs bill. And, today, we need your help phone banking for State Rep. Courtney Neron, a strong supporter of climate legislation—with a 94% OLCV score!—who's running for re-election in the Sherwood/Wilsonville area.

Talking to voters about climate candidates can make a huge difference, and it’s an easy and fun way to get involved in the election. Tomorrow, we have phone banking options for three awesome county-level candidates: Phil Chang for Deschutes County Commissioner, Nafisa Fai for Washington County Commissioner, and Joel Iboa for Lane County Commissioner. Sign up here!

And, before our weekend phone banks get started, join us for one of the highlights of Climate Action Week: a special Facebook live event on Youth Climate Action Day. We’ll be interviewing some of our amazing interns and youth volunteers about how the climate crisis has impacted them and why climate action is critical for their future. We hope you’ll join us in showing your support for these talented and inspiring youth activists by liking, sharing, and commenting. You can watch the livestream this Friday at 4:30pm by going to OLCV’s Facebook page, here!

The election is just under a month away, and voters will start filling out their ballots as soon as next week. This is our chance to make sure that the names of climate champions are fresh in their minds so they’re ready to vote! Climate Action Week goes until this Sunday, October 11th. There’s no better time to get involved and make a difference! I hope to see you at this week’s events!

Thank you,
Britney VanCitters
Organizing Manager, OLCV

P.S. - Don’t forget to check out our Endorsements for the 2020 Election so you can get ready to vote for climate champs in your area!
