In the middle of a global pandemic and as the 2020 election has already
begun, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are trying to force through the
nomination of anti-health care, anti-reproductive rights, anti-workers’
rights judge Amy Coney Barrett for a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court.
Mere days after the election, the Court is set to hear a case that could
decide the future of protections for people with preexisting conditions
and our access to health care. And we’ve already seen Trump calling for
Barrett’s swift confirmation so that he has three justices in his pocket
if he decides to challenge the results of our fair and free election.
We know that Barrett is being put on the Supreme Court to end protections
for people with preexisting conditions, overturn Roe v. Wade, and
rubber-stamp Trump’s attempts to hijack the 2020 election and destroy our
democracy.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham has scheduled hearings
to start on Barrett’s nomination to start this Monday, October 12. That’s
why we’re going live today with activists, advocates, and senators to
discuss why this nomination must not move forward.
Speakers will include Senators Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren, Tammy
Baldwin, and Maggie Hassan, as well as PFAW’s own President, Ben Jealous.
These speakers along with advocates and activists will gather to show
Senate Republicans how dangerous their actions are – and to discuss what
we’re doing during the hearings to keep the fight going.
